Recession, Depression, Expression...

Pete Versus Toby have let the recession take their creative energies to new and higher levels of expression.

Designer Marco Zirov has collaborated with Byron Bay artists Lex Williams and Raina Hede to develop an in house winter range that juxtaposes the falling Roman Empire (USA) with Rothschild family inspired sketches. Through developing the diverse range a study of drug use and its effects on an artist was also important.

The winter range has a luxurious atmosphere through the use of digitally printed Japanese silk sweaters, multi palette leather jackets and Organic cotton T-shirts. The collection of club and street wear will be carried in 30 stores throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Japan and also on their webpage, www.peteversustoby.com

The Byron lads, who started by screen-printing T-shirts for their friends back home, have a token addition to the collection, a new logo that resembles the cross (crux). Zirov explains, “when we started the label it was a response toward branded clothing, so we chose the cross as a sarcastic response to the cult following of symbols (branding). In actuality it is just an opened box.”

Another classic Pete Versus Toby range, the Byron lads are on the up and up…
